56th National Archaeological Conference ended

Пловдив е домакин на Националната археологическа конференция

The most prestigious forum in Bulgarian archaeology ended.

The 56-th National Archaeological conference was three days (29 – 31 May 2017), in Plovdiv – House of Culture “Boris Hristov”.

The Minister of Culture - Mr. Banov, The Deputy Minister of Culture - Mrs. Gesheva, Arch. Dobreva-Angelova – Director General of DG "Inspectorate for the preservation of cultural heritage" and inspectors from the Diractorate-General, eng. Ivan Totev - Mayor of Plovdiv Municipality, Mrs. Savina Petkova  - Chairperson of the Municipal Council and the management of National Archaeological Institute with Museum – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences attended at the official part of the conference.

A chamber vocal formation with choir-master Stanimira Manolova congratulated the participants with several musical works.

 Reports for the most interesting archaeological finds in 2016 were presented. The program included also visiting of the significant archaeological sites in Plovdiv.

The colleagues from the Austrian Archaeological Institute presented reports of Ephesus as a city of great importance for the Roman period and the  Late antiquity.

The 56-th National Archaeological Conference was a great success, involving 150 scientists from Bulgaria and abroad.
